About BBTC

Our Commitments

How will we achieve our vision?

We do all things to the Glory of the Father. Hence, to please God, we are committed to:

a. love God whole-heartedly(Matthew 22:37 )
b. love each other fervently (Matthew 22:39; John 13:34-35; 1 Peter 4:8)
c. share Christ faithfully (Matthew 28:18-20)

A. Commitment to love God whole-heartedly

1. Our Help is the Holy Spirit

This means utter dependence on the Holy Spirit. (Zechariah 4:6) Our practice is that all activities are saturated and soaked in prayer before they take off.

Prayer is a way for the believer to experience and encounter the reality of God in his personal life for victorious living, hence this great emphasis on prayer. In BBTC, the Council and the Pastoral Staff have weekly meetings to intercede for various aspects of the church. As a body, we have pre-service prayer meetings as well as the monthly Worship & Intercession. Cell Groups and ministries are encouraged to have their own regular prayer-time to access God’s power and grace in the individual’s life.

2. The Head of the church is our Lord Jesus Christ

We consciously invite the Lord into our lives, families, cell groups, ministries and worship services and everything we do. (Revelation 3:20; Psalm 24:7-10)

We believe that Christ is our Master and we acknowledge Him openly and publicly. The church He builds will prevail the gates of hades, but all glory to God, for we are only His fellow-builders. (Matthew 16:18-19, 1 Corinthians 3:9)

B. Commitment to love each other fervently

1. The Church-in-Action Group (CG)

The CG is the basic unit in BBTC where we have fellowship, pray for one another and learn to bear each other’s burdens. By loving each other as a family in Christ, each member is built up and strengthened to serve God. Through investing in one another’s lives, we gain strength and focus to further the Kingdom of God. The dynamic life of God is thus expressed in this unit of community.

Through the CG, we aim to edify and equip each member of the church.
a.
Edify - Each member must be edified, build up in their faith, and spurred on to walk with God to grow in spiritual maturity.
b.
Equip – As members grow and desire to serve, all manner of training and equipping towards spiritual qualification will be provided to enable them to serve in specific areas. We encourage all to serve according to calling, giftings and portion. (Psalm 78:72, Daniel 5:12 and 6:3)

2. Intentional Disciple-making Church
Discipleship is done at the cell and corporate levels to build strong believers, marriages and families. As a form of coverage and accountability for the various ministries and areas of church life, we have in place a structure as follows:
- Council of Elders and Deacons
- Finance & Human Resource Committee
- Pastoral Staff
- CG & Ministry Supervisors
- CG Leaders by Clusters
- Missions Team
- Worship Team
- Prayer Team

Each of our ministry leader have the responsibility to take ownership of their ministry. Their roles require them to:
- Shepherd the people with integrity and skillfulness
- Oversee the ministry group
- Provide spiritual covering
- Ensure accountability
- Review operational plans quarterly vis-à-vis goals
- Review strategic plans periodically

C. Commitment to share Christ faithfully

Evangelism is encouraged at the personal, cell group and corporate levels, as well as through missions. As an intentional disciple-making church, we purposefully practice diligent corporate governance, as well as accountability and covering. To facilitate this process, we have various groupings:

1. Personal Level
- We pray to be a blessing to others as we are blessed

- We pray for divine appointments to share the fragrance of Christ (2 Cor 2: 14-16)

2. CG Level
- We welcome newcomers from the community and our oikos to be encouraged and edified in our regular CG meetings
- We plan regular bridge-building events to introduce the love of Christ to others

- We aim to make evangelism a lifestyle

3. Corporate Level
- We outreach to the community through acts of kindness at the Church level

- We also outreach to the community through our community service arm, Bethesda Care & Counselling Services Centre

4. Overseas Missions Level

- We send out teams yearly to various countries to share the good news to pre-believers when appropriate. Besides that, we also encourage our own missionaries in those places.
