BBTC's Hokkien Service was started in January 2005 with
the desire to reach out to the dialect-speaking in the Bedok-Tampines
community. According to the government population census, the number of
dialect-speaking in Bedok alone amounts to 40,000. They are served by
only a handful of dialect-speaking churches in the area.
Given our strategic location in the heart of Bedok and
the prophetic exhortations by national church leaders on BBTC being a
church to the community, we believe that BBTC is well-positioned to
bring a multitude of dialect-speaking people into His Kingdom.
Our intention is to plant, grow and establish the
Hokkien Service to reach 500 members by 2010. We have a team of 30
dedicated and passionate co-workers from the English and Mandarin
services who work closely to achieve our goals. We strive to become
warm welcomers, true worshipers, Word centered believers, clear
witnesses and prayer warriors.
Presently, we have a congregation of 150 including
co-workers, and thank the Lord for His presence and commitment to us as
we partner in growing His church (Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 16:18)
Our Strategy
Our strategy is two-pronged: reaching out through
community blessing and establishing members through small groups
(cells). Through CP, our members aim to touch the dialect-speaking in
the community through acts of care. Our weekly services and events are
seeker-sensitive, and through these, we aim to save them into God's
family. Through the cell groups, new members grow and are established,
and in turn reach out to their communities.
Our Methods
Our team members immerse themselves in the culture of
the dialect-speaking community and have learnt different dialects to
reach out and minister to them.
In our ministry, we have teams who help in ushering,
worship, teaching of God's word, witnessing to others and most
importantly, praying for our members. Our model is adopted from the
early church and we expect the Lord to add to our congregation many who
will be saved (Acts 2:42-47).
We are organized into 10 cell groups and have adopted 26
blocks within walking distance of BBTC as our immediate community to
build bridges of care and trust. Our aim is to establish cell groups in
every block. Through the small groups, we disciple and develop new
members who will then partner with us to multiply and grow the cell
groups, and to lead and serve in our congregation, for God's glory.
Programmes
Our services are conducted weekly every Saturday, from
7.00pm - 9.00pm at Hall 1.
