When we speak of “finishing well”, it is natural to think of the finishing line as the ultimate destination. But what does “finishing well” look like?
The world views finishing well in terms of its possible physical accomplishments – being happy, healthy and/or wealthy. However, the true definition of finishing well is where God approves of our life journey as we serve Him wholeheartedly. To finish well, we must choose well – to choose life, where we love God, obey God and hold fast to God.
DSP Chua Seng Lee further expounded on what he meant as he anchored the sermon in Joshua’s last words to the Israelites
(Jos 24:15):
“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
